Building Progress

Our hall has been in a permanent state of 'building in progress' since the last time it moved location.

We have a regular team of leaders and helpers at the group who chip away at the everlasting list of building and maintenance jobs that need doing. Once or twice a year we organise a work weekend. We prepare as many jobs and tasks as possible and so we can get as much completed as possible on the weekend. We recently had a work weekend at the end of June 2008 that turned out to be very successful.

Jobs/Tasks completed:

• Coping stones placed on roof - this would not have been possible with out Paul, Mathias, and team creating the stones to go on the roof for the past 6 months.
• BBQ area started - this was made possible by the Explorers/Network laying the concrete bases so Mark (an ex-scout) could start laying the bricks.
• Junk and unusable materials cleared from small hall
• Small hall painted with initial coat of paint - this took all weekend to complete
• Broken guttering was fixed
• White cladding round building was given a much needed clean
• Trees in grounds were thinned out - thanks to the hard work of Alan Green
• Over grown areas were cut back making the grounds look a little nicer
• Exterior doors were repainted

We had a good turn out for the day, nearly every leader in the group did work over the weekend, the Iceni Explorers and Networkers were there for the entire weekend and we had some Cub and Scout parents put in some hours. A big thanks goes to all that helped over the weekend.
